Uplifting Women is Now Accepting Members

Introduction to Uplifting Women 

Uplifting Women is a non-profit organization that is for women, by women. Uplifting Women is a community of those with a shared goal of empowering women in the local community through education, community, and financial relief. With Uplifting Women, not only are we able to give back to those in the local community but also create an environment for women to connect. The goal is to have our own pocket of peace in a universe that is full of negativity. Through this connection, we are able to perform acts of kindness and aid other women. 

Though we are a new organization, our board has been working behind the scenes to make our mark. We have done random acts of kindness for those who needed a light, provided financial relief to families and other organizations in need, as well as supported other women-owned non-profit organizations in the community. Moving forward, as we grow as a community, our goals do as well. In 2023 we have plans to dive headfirst into volunteer work, hosting workshops/classes, and continuing to provide financial relief to those in need, doing random acts of kindness, and supporting other nonprofits. 

What Being a Member Entails

When Uplifting Women was created, we wanted it to be practical and realistic to be a member. We understand that people have very busy lives and have a lot going on, but still want to be able to get involved. Thus the expectations of being a member are simple. 

Dues: for the year of 2023, we are waiving any dues of applicants.

Application: Fill out and return the membership application within 72 hours of receiving it 

Attendance: Attend and participate in 50% of events (we are hosting 1 major event/workshop/volunteer opportunity per month, thus ask you to attend 6 out of the 12.) 

Alert: Always keeping an eye out for those struggling. Whether in your personal life or on social media, if you see someone that may need an act of kindness, money, etc. Share it with Uplifting Women and we can take action.

What We are Doing in 2023 

The Uplifting Women officers got together and outlined our “main events” of the year. As mentioned above, we are doing one event/volunteer/workshop opportunity per month. Of course we can add more when things arise, but, as of now, we have one opportunity a month. Members are asked to attend 50% of these. Dates and more in depth details will be announced at the monthly event/volunteer/workshop opportunity as well as via email and Facebook group. This is just an outline to give you an idea of what we will be doing! 

January- Vision board workshop JANUARY 19 @ 6:30 at the Soul Shine Boudoir Studio in Hermitage

Fun and creative way to visualize your 2023 

February- Galentines Member Kick off Party 

A way to get to know other members! 

March- Ladies Night Out 

    Event is SOLD OUT but volunteering opportunities are available! 

This event is the main source of raising money for Uplifting Women

April- Makeup Class and donating makeup / hygiene products to women's shelters

May- Giving back to local mothers in the community 

    We did this in 2022, and cannot wait to do it again. 

We bought flower baskets for 18 mothers in the community that have experienced loss

June- Gardening 101 class and donating to local food shelters 

July- Giving back to local veterans 

August- Supporting kids in need going back to school 

September- Starting a Little Library 

October- Craft show to raise money for breast cancer awareness month 

November- participating in the Hermitage light up parade 

December- End of the year member party & ornament exchange
